The annual vigil to close down the SOA/WHINSEC will take place from November 18-21, 2010 in Columbus, Georgia, home to the School of the Americas.

The School of the Americas (SOA) in Fort Benning, GA has trained over 60,000 Latin American soldiers in interrogation tactics, psychological warfare, and counterinsurgency techniques, and its graduates have tortured, raped and killed union and student organizers, teachers, clergy and others working for human rights in Latin America.
The movement to close the SOA is gaining strength. Read abou the history of the movement to close the SOA and about legislative actions, and see the photos from the November 22-23, 2008 vigil.

In a dramatic protest, 42 activists with Witness Against Torture were arrested this afternoon at the U.S. Capitol. The protest comes on the eve of the since-voided deadline President Obama had set for closing the prison camp at Guantanamo.
