CHILLING testimony by Israeli soldiers substantiates charges that Israel’s Gaza Strip assault entailed grave violations of international law. The emergence of a predominantly right-wing, nationalist government in Israel suggests that there may be more violations to come.  New York Times

Peace, NOT APARTHEID

"Debbie Hall representing ACT For America & defending Israel  shall debate Larry Carter Center representing CharlestonPeace.net of  Facebook as Larry shall expose the facts of Israeli war crimes  against Gaza, detail the conquest of Palestine from 1947 onward,  affirm Jimmy Carter's call for Peace, NOT APARTHEID as Palestinians  are herded into ghettos, behind walls, blockades & deadly police  check points, often denied water rights & rescue missions blocked if  not shot out of the water by Israeli gunships.  Let's all call for  disarming all sides, end provocation of suicide bombers & wild  symbolic rocket attacks & end massive US military aid to Israelis so  that Jerusalem & other cities can be "INTERNATIONALIZED" and no  single prize to any religion, open to all pilgrims.

Will the U.S. Unclench Its Own Fist?
Written by Kristen French
Tuesday, 03 February 2009

Kristen French, Ph.D.

President Obama has been on a mission since his inauguration.  By all accounts, he is in a hurry to make change-the kind of change that can help people find jobs, avoid losing their jobs, obtain healthcare, stabilize the economy, stop torture, and clean up a good bit of the Bush Administration's flagrant abuse of the Justice Department and the EPA.  These are ideals that I and many others support, but there is an area where Obama's actions cause me great concern.

Why is Obama bombing Pakistan?  Why is Obama moving to escalate the war in Afghanistan?  Is he suffering from the fact that he has chosen to surround himself with leftover advisors and officials from the Bush Administration?  Or does he really buy into the idea of the War on Terror?  What happened to his commitment to diplomacy?

We Lived to Tell the Story: Lebanon Rescued Us
Written by Cynthia McKinney
Tuesday, 06 January 2009
. . . On the drive from Sour through Saida to Beirut, we were welcomed like heroes because our ordeal had been seen by everyone on Al Jazeera. The mayor of Sour came to welcome us. The mayor of Saida insisted that we stop there, on our way to Beirut, for a special ceremony.  But there was something else that was visible along our drive, and that is the devastation that Lebanon, itself, has received as a result of the Israeli war machine.

If Gaza Falls . . .
Written by Sara Roy
Wednesday, 31 December 2008

The breakdown of an entire society is happening in front of us, but there is
little international response beyond UN warnings which are ignored. . . .  How can keeping food and medicine from the people of Gaza protect the people of Israel? How can the impoverishment and suffering of Gaza’s children – more than 50 per cent of the population – benefit anyone?

Read Roy's detailed article, which is to be published Jan. 1, 2009, at the London Review of Books or at Information Clearinghouse. For Background information, please read Stephen Lendman's article, published by the Centre for Research on Globalization.

'The hospital morgues were already full. The dead
were piled on top of each other outside'

These bombs were launched by Israel, as we had known they would be. The world watched the situation simmer then boil over, but did nothing. There are some who believe that hell is divided into different classes. The ordinary people of Gaza have long been caught in the tormenting underworld. Now, if the world does not heed what has happened here, our situation will worsen. We will be trapped in the first class of hell.  The Independent ; sent by Information Clearinghouse

Obama's Historic Victory
Written by Howard Zinn
Sunday, 09 November 2008
Those of us on the Left who have criticized Obama, as I have, for his failure to take bold positions on the war and on the economy, must join the exultation of those Americans, black and white, who shouted and wept Tuesday night as they were informed that Barack Obama had won the presidential election. It is truly a historic moment, that a black man will lead our country. The enthusiasm of the young, black and white, the hopes of their elders, cannot simply be ignored.           Information Clearinghouse

Killing Innocent People Does Not Liberate Them

Industrial Military Complex "jobs" represent a direct attack upon truth, history and the career goals of American educators from high schools to most universities.  As an eyewitness to the racist genocide against Southeast Asians where companies like Dow Chemical napalmed countless thousands of acres of countryside, I see the current "WAR" is even worse.

Georgia/Russia Conflict Forced Into Cold War Frame
Written by FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting)
Friday, 15 August 2008
U.S. corporate media frequently evoked the Cold War as a key to understanding the conflict between Russia and Georgia over South Ossetia. This was certainly true of the media themselves, which generally placed black hats or white hats on the actors involved depending on whether they were allied with Moscow or Washington.   FAIR

An August surprise: Russia-Georgia conflict explodes on world scene

The U.S.-backed militarization of the Caucasus in the former Soviet Union exploded on the night of Aug. 7. Under cover of darkness and as the world watched the Olympics, the government of right-wing Georgian President Saakashvili ordered an all-out military attack on Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia.   People's Weekly World

Towards a Broader Russia-US Military Confrontation?
  CasPline.gif

During the night of August 7, coinciding with the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, Georgia's president Saakashvili ordered an all-out military attack on Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia. The aerial bombardments and ground attacks were largely directed against civilian targets including residential areas, hospitals and the university.

. . . Georgia is an outpost of US and NATO forces, on the immediate border of the Russian Federation and within proximity of the Middle East Central Asian war theater. South Ossetia is also at the crossroads of strategic oil and gas pipeline routes.

. . . The question is: was this a deliberate provocation intended to trigger a Russian military response and suck the Russians into a broader military confrontation with Georgia (and allied forces) which could potentially escalate into an all out war?
