Medical School Scholarships - Interviews September 15

The Cuban Ministry of Public Health is offering full medical school scholarships to qualified students from medically underserved communities in SC. Interviews will be held in Charleston on September 15 and 16. 


Cuba is offering full scholarships for students from
medically under - served communities in the United
States to study medicine at the Latin American School
of Medicine, Havana, Cuba.

Tuition, dormitory housing, meals and textbooks in
Spanish are provided free of charge. The curriculum
includes a pre - med program of six months to one
year for study of basic sciences and Spanish, if needed,
followed by a five - year medical school program and
a one - year internship. Special courses have also been
created for the U.S. students in preparation for the U.S.
licensing examinations.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Proficiency in college
level sciences is preferred. Students must be committed
to practice medicine in poor and under - served communities
in the U.S. after graduation. Students from medically
under - served communities are especially urged to apply.

The Medical School Advisory Committee of the Interreligious
Foundation for Community Organization ( IFCO ) is
handling recruitment and screening of applicants. Information
