Please join us for the film A Silent Forest: The Growing Threat of Genetically Engineered Trees
at the College of Charleston's Communications Museum,
58 George St.
Wednesday, Sept. 6th
at 7:00 pm

The world's leader in GE tree resrearch and development, ArborGen, is in Summerville, SC. Test plots are currently being grown in this area.

GE Tree plantations will contaminate native forests, killing insects, damaging soil, disbursing toxic pollen, harming human health, depleting ground water and exacerbating the extinction crisis. Once contamination from GE trees begins, it cannot be stopped. Projections indicate that every forest on Earth could ultimately be impacted.

This Oct. 10-13 a major industry conference on genetically engineered trees is being organized here in Charleston. In response local activists, ForestEthics, the STOP GE Trees Campaign and Global Justice Ecology Project will be holding a public forum on Oct. 8-9 immediately preceeding the conference. The forum will feature experts from across the US and internationally who will lead interactive discussions on the social and environmental threats and dangers of industrial tree plantations and genetically engineered trees.
