PUBLIC HEARINGS ON BOMBPLEX 2030: The public is invited to comment -- "What would the environmental impact be of restarting the Cold War and building more atom bombs?" What's at stake at SRS? A proposal to consolidate weapons-grade plutonium stocks in South Carolina and make atom bombs to hold the whole world hostage! NOW IS THE TIME to mobilize and take a stand to show our government undeniably that THE PEOPLE SEE BEYOND THE BOMB. This is the third time since the Cold War ended and Russia collapsed in bankruptcy that the U.S. government has attempted to restart the Cold War. Each time --- in 1991 about Complex 21 and again in 2003 about Modern Pit Facility --- we have come out in spirited numbers, with the simple message "We Want Clean Up! No More Build Up!" And both times the attempt to restart the Cold War was rebuffed by the strength of our voices. Please plan to attend one of the public hearings and sign-up to testify. Our message can be this plain and simple: "Nuclear weapons are inherently destructive of the environment in their possession, manufacture and use. Global and national security lie in U.S. leadership towards disarmament, environmental restoration and nuclear waste management."
