100 Cosponsors for H.R. 1707 - but None From SC

H.R. 1707, the bill to suspend operations at the SOA/WHINSEC, now has 100 co-sponsors. Still no one from the South Carolina delegation has signed on, despite the fact that Representative Clyburn has supported similar bills in the past. Please contact your member of congress now!

On April 25-27, Charleston Peace members and SOA Watch activists throughout the United States held public fasts to educate the general public and members of Congress on the SOA/WHINSEC issue.

The text of H.R. 1707 includes a list of sponsors, and so far no one from the South Carolina delegation has signed on as a co-sponsor. Please encourage especially Representative Clyburn , who has voted in favor of similar bills in the past, to co-sponsor this bill. For a suggested phone script (and the list of sponsors) check the SOA Watch website (scroll down.)

From April 25 to 27, Charleston Peace members joined SOA Watch activists in a public fast to call attention to the SOA/WHINSEC issue. We wore t-shirts announcing the fast and gave leaflets to interested people on Friday evening in Marion Square.

We need help letting the people of Charleston know about this issue.
