The July meeting of the Carolina Alliance for Fair Employment will be held on Monday, July 9 at 7:00p.m. at the ILA Hall, 1142 Morrison Drive, Charleston. Historian George Hopkins will present a brief historical overview of the American labor movement's attitudes and policies toward immigrant and undocumented workers--and how and why that has changed in recent years. Attorney Marco Torres will briefly discuss pending legislation on immigration and its probable impact on undocumented workers.  Then there will be a general discussion of what the labor movement [locally, state-wide, nationally, and internationally] is doing and can do to build constructive relationships with undocumented workers as well as what political, economic, legislative, and other policies unions and progressives should consider supporting.
